OUC Sets up Peking Opera Research and Study Society in Conjunction with Famous Stars to Boost Morale
On September 9, 2014, a tasteful and beautiful performance of the Peking Opera “Drunken Concubine”, the first of its kind at the Open University of China (OUC), was held to mark the announcement and debut of the OUC Peking Opera Research and Study Society after preparation for nearly two years. The announcement was made as part of the cultural activities held to celebrate 2014 Teachers’ Day.
On October 18-19, 2014, Innovative Development of Higher Vocational Education and the 2014 Annual National Joint Conference of Vocational Technical College Presidents was held in Taizhou City, Jiangsu Province. The annual conference was sponsored by the National Joint Conference of Vocational Technical College Presidents and was divided into five modules.
September 24-26, 2014 saw the convening of the Ninth Seminar of Bohai Sea Rim Community Education Cooperation Organization in the City of Dalian, Liaoning Province.
Cai Yan, Deputy Director of the Adult Training Division of the MOE Department of Vocational and Adult Education, attended the seminar. She indicated that China is now at a crucial stage in comprehensively building a moderately prosperous society, which means that continuing education is faced with a rare development opportunity.
Recently, the preparation of “The Open University for Older Adults” implemented by the Open University of China (OUC) has made solid progress in promoting education for older adults, constructing an open university for older adults, investigating and analyzing demand, studying basic theory and real-time issues, implementing the construction of professional disciplines, developing non-degree projects, building platform course resources, and system construction.

On August 6, the Open University of China (OUC) established Yanoda School of International Tourism in Hainan. Jointly founded by Hainan Radio and TV University (RTVU) and Hainan Yanoda Rainforest Cultural Tourism Zone, the School aims to set up universities for businesses and train badly needed qualified personnel, through an innovative model combining school-enterprise cooperation and professional training. The founders said they would strive to make Yanoda Rainforest Cultural Tourism Zone the first open education model of a "learning" enterprise in Hainan.
