In order to recognise outstanding women individuals, set examples for the others, and inspire women to cultivate self-respect, confidence, independence, and self-reliance, as well as to encourage them to forge ahead on a new journey and contribute to the new era by actively participating in the modernization of China, the All-China Women's Federation recently held a commemorative event for International Women's Day (March 8th) and an Awards Ceremony in Beijing.
A total of 15 students or graduates from the Open University of China (OUC) system were awarded the “National March 8th Red-Banner Holders”. Let us listen to the inspiring stories behind them.
WU Qun, a student majoring in Administrative Management at Tongling Open University, Anhui Branch, currently serves as the Vice Chairperson of the Labour Union and Director of the Women's Committee at Jinlong Copper Co., Ltd.
WU leads the company's female workers to leverage labour competitions, technical contests, and team building to help the company's production and operations reach new heights. She leverages initiatives, like the establishment of "Women's Civilisation Posts" and skill enhancement programmes, to ignite the passion of female workers for making significant contributions and achieving success. Through these practical actions, she is penning a new chapter in the lives of industrial women in the new era.
Focusing on the key, difficult, and bottleneck issues in production and operations, WU has planned and organised 45 labour competitions that cover all aspects of the company's production. She also conducts over 10 technical contests annually, having organised 37 technical contests in the past three years. These contests span all fields, from production to logistics, commerce, and raw material supply, and have cultivated a group of technical experts.
From the frontlines of production to the forefront of management, from tackling technical challenges to extending humanistic care, WU has persevered for over a decade. She has shone brightly as a trailblazing industrial woman beside the copper-smelting furnace, embodying the spirit of the new era. The "Women's Pioneers" she leads is continuing to write more stories of struggling with a "pioneering" spirit, an "innovative" drive, and a "hardworking" style on the journey to building a world-class copper smelting enterprise!
