Beijing, 18 March 2026 — The Seniors University of China (SUC) established its School of Silver Economy in Beijing. The School also announced its first group of distinguished experts, and simultaneously launched the "Health and Wellness, Learning and Travel" special section on the National Education Platform for the Elderly.

The establishment of the School of Silver Economy aims to serve national strategies and empower the silver economy through education. The School will focus on the integration of elderly education with silver industries, developing high-quality resources, building multi-level and multi-type talent training systems, and creating integrated platforms that bring together industry, education, research, and application, comprehensively serving high-quality development of the silver economy and modernisation of ageing-related undertakings.

Grounded in the national strategy of proactively responding to population ageing and aligned with policy orientations for integrated development of elderly education and the silver economy, the School prioritises educational services combining policy research, standard formulation, skills training, talent cultivation, and industry-education-research integration. To promote deep integration of elderly education with culture, tourism, health, and elderly care, the School has already organised elderly study tours and other practical projects, releasing 12 featured premium routes covering cultural and natural attractions including Zhengding in Hebei, Jingdezhen in Jiangxi, and Zhangjiajie in Hunan, which explores new pathways for integrated development of "Health and Wellness, Learning and Travel". Moving forward, the School will gradually form a curriculum system for the silver economy, promote disciplinary and professional development in silver economy studies, cultivate high-quality professional talent, build industry-education integration platforms, and contribute to silver economy development.

Since its establishment in March 2023, SUC has upheld its educational principle of "Morality, Learning, Health, Happiness, Fulfilment". Through implementing its Three-Year Action Plan, SUC has established 82,000 primary-level learning sites nationwide, built the National Education Platform for the Elderly, that has aggregated 7.295 million minutes of age-friendly free course resources, with 12 million registered users, and provided learning support services to 228 million person-times.
