The visiting programme of High School Students from Reunion Island, France to China was organised by the Open University of China (OUC) Guangzhou Branch and listed as an event of  “Young Envoys Scholarship” (YES) Programme which was launched by Ministry of Education of China a couple of years ago.

The YES Programme aims to foster greater exchange and mutual understanding between Chinese and international youths by supporting high-quality short-term study programmes in China. OUC stood out among the applicants to join the YES Programme, thanks to its extensive experience and innovative practices in hosting international study tours.

The YES Programme offers a seamless blend of international Chinese language education and traditional Chinese cultural sharing, enabling foreign students to experience the richness and profoundness of Chinese civilisation firsthand. Through immersive “mobile classroom” study activities, young learners are able to combine theory with practice, gaining a deep appreciation for both the cultural heritage of China and its innovative dynamism in the modern era. This approach truly embodies the vision of “appreciating the beauty of each culture and sharing beauty in harmony,” allowing participants to embrace cultural diversity while fostering mutual respect and understanding.

Building on this success, OUC will take the YES Programme as a new starting point to further enhance its “Chinese Language + Culture” model. The university is committed to actively expanding its international cooperation network and promoting more diverse and in-depth two-way exchanges. By doing so, it aims to cultivate a new generation of “young envoys” who possess both a global vision and a strong sense of cultural mission. These young envoys will be empowered to become both learners and ambassadors of Chinese culture, as well as practitioners of building a community with a shared future for mankind. Through these efforts, OUC hopes to contribute to the advancement of Sino-foreign cultural exchange and the progress of global civilisation.
