Beijing, 28 April 2025 – China celebrated the 100th anniversary of the founding of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions by honouring national model workers and individuals at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. A total of 1,670 people were honoured as national role model workers, while 756 were recognised as exemplary individuals. Among them, 25 students from the Open University of China (OUC) were awarded the title of National Model Worker and 6 OUC faculty members and students were recognised as National Exemplary Individual.
These honourees have distinguished themselves through remarkable innovation in teaching and research, dedicated efforts in the cause of rural revitalisation, and relentless pursuit of excellence in scientific and technological breakthroughs. Their actions have reflected the spirit of model workers, characterised by passion for duty, pursuit of excellence; resilience in action, courage to innovate; selfless service beyond personal gain. Their achievements not only bring great honour to OUC, but also make significant contributions to social progress.
This year's event is the 17th edition of its kind, which showcases the patriotism and creativity of workers in the new era. Apart from those working in the traditional sectors like agriculture and manufacturing, the honourees also include inheritors of fine traditional Chinese culture and representatives from new professions such as delivery workers and domestic service trainers.
