Beijing, 18 April 2025 - The Open University of China (OUC) hosted an interpretive seminar on “Implementation Opinions on the Comprehensive Reform of Education and Teaching in Open Universities through Digital Intelligence Empowerment and Integrated Coordination.”
Vice President LI Song delivered a speech titled “Focusing on Talent Cultivation, Deepening Teaching Reform, and Collaboratively Promoting the High-Quality Development of Open Education.” In his speech, he introduced the history of teaching reform in open education, outlined critical challenges to be addressed by the current reform, and detailed strategic initiatives on implementation.
In the seminar, heads of OUC departments detailed some actionable steps. GU Xiaohua, Director of the OUC Academic Affairs Department, elaborated on reform measures related to programmes, courses, and teaching, focusing on key initiatives such as job competency and the 101 Core Courses Construction Plan. LI Wei, Director of the Learning Resources Department, presented the digital learning ecosystem plan titled “Developing digital and integrated learning resources.” ZHAO Tingting, Deputy Director of the Department of Student Affairs and Teacher Development, emphasised the development of a “dual-capability” teacher workforce. The director of the Department of Quality Monitoring and Control explained the construction and implementation pathways of a data-driven quality assurance system. CHENG Gang, Director of the Department of Digitalisation, demonstrated how to empower innovative teaching reforms through intelligent platform upgrades.
Over 45,000 faculty and administrators across all OUC branches, colleges, and relevant departments attended the seminar online.
