On 15 March 2025, the Jiangxi Branch of the Seniors University of China (SUC) was established. A delegation led by Dr. WANG Qiming, President of the Open University of China (OUC) and SUC and Ms. FAN Xianrui, OUC and SUC Vice President visited Jiangxi Open University (OU) and Jiangxi Seniors University (SU), attended the inauguration ceremony and had a meeting with the locals, discussing how to promote the elderly education locally and nationwide.

At the ceremony, Vice President FAN read out the “Notice on the Establishment of the Jiangxi Branch of SUC”. President WANG presented the plaque to Jiangxi SU and Jiangxi OU. He extended warm congratulations on the establishment of the Jiangxi Branch of SUC. He stated that the strong collaboration between Jiangxi OU and Jiangxi SU in jointly establishing SUC’s Jiangxi Branch marks a significant step in the reform and development of elderly education in Jiangxi Province. It also serves as a valuable exploration of the coordinated development mechanism for elderly education in China. In the future, SUC will provide strong support for the development of the Jiangxi Branch, promoting the creation of a new educational pattern characterised by shared curriculum development, joint teacher training, collaborative research, co-hosted achievement exhibitions, interconnected platform services, and joint promotion of exemplary initiatives.

Representatives from the Bureau of Retired Veteran Cadres of the Jiangxi Provincial Committee, the Department of Education, and the Department of Civil Affairs of Jiangxi Province, along with some faculty members from Jiangxi SU and Jiangxi OU, attended the event.
