The Open University of China (OUC) and Capital Normal University (CNU) have reached a consensus on strategic cooperation in areas such as master's supervisors, faculty team development, learning resources, and teaching services.

On 25 December 2024, a signing ceremony for the strategic cooperation agreement was held at the OUC's Wukesong Campus. Liu Xuanxuan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of OUC, and Cai Chun, Vice President of CNU, signed the strategic cooperation agreement on behalf of both parties.

Both sides attached great importance to this cooperation and held a symposium prior to the signing ceremony. Xu Mingjun, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of OUC, presided over the symposium. He welcomed the delegation from CNU and expressed gratitude for their support in facilitating the signing of the strategic cooperation agreement between the two universities.

Liu Xuanxuan introduced the history, recent work, and future visions of OUC and the Seniors University of China (SUC). She stated that OUC is dedicated to constructing a ubiquitous and accessible lifelong education system, focusing on empowering lifelong education with digital technology to serve the development of a learning-oriented society and country. She hoped to leverage OUC's advantages as a major platform for lifelong learning, online learning, and flexible learning to promote cooperation between the two universities in areas such as talent cultivation, faculty team development, and teaching services, thereby driving excellence and quality improvement in education and teaching at both institutions.

Cai Chun expressed his hope for pragmatic cooperation, collaborative innovation, and mutual development between the two parties, contributing to the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, advancing the development of China's higher education, and building a leading country in education and a learning society. Wang Luozhong, Vice President of CNU, pointed out that CNU has a distinctive feature of teacher education and serves as an important base for talent cultivation in Beijing. He hoped to leverage CNU's strengths in teacher education disciplines and graduate student training to enhance the quality of talent cultivation between the two parties and realise the radiating effect of their unique educational resources.

The delegation from CNU also visited SUC’s exhibition hall titled "Unveiling a New Chapter in China's Elderly Education."
