On 31 December 2024, the Ministry of Education (MOE) held a symposium in Hebei's Weixian County.

Mr. Peng Binbai, Director General of the Department of Vocational Education and Adult Education of the MOE, presided over the meeting. Ms. Fan Xianrui, Vice President of the Open University of China (OUC) and the Seniors University of China (SUC), attended the meeting. SUC, together with Hebei Open University and Weixian Open University (OU) signed an agreement on the "Elderly Education Outreach to Rural Areas".

According to the Agreement, SUC will collaborate with the Hebei OU and Weixian OU, leveraging their respective strengths to enhance cooperation in areas such as educational and teaching planning, resource platform development, teacher training, organisation of brand activities, etc. This collaboration aims to continuously enrich the content of elderly education in Weixian County, expand the supply of elderly education, and contribute to the development of the local lifelong learning system.

Ji Xianping, Secretary of the Party Committee of Hebei OU; Tian Xuebin, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Hebei OU; and Liu Chang'an, President of Weixian OU, attended the Signing Ceremony.
