The year 2024 marks the 10th anniversary of General Secretary Xi Jinping's innovative proposition for a holistic approach to national security.

15 April also celebrates the 9th National Security Education Day. This year's theme, "Innovative Leadership: Ten Years of the Holistic Approach to National Security," aims to guide students to thoroughly learn and implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. It also encourages a deep appreciation for the significant achievements in national security over the past decade, promotes active practice of the holistic approach to national security, and fosters a shared commitment among faculty and students towards caring for and safeguarding national security. To this end, the Open University of China (OUC) has launched a series of activities for the 2024 National Security Education Day.

The OUC has launched a series titled "OUC Open Lectures: National Security Education Open Course," providing high-quality, free learning resources to college students across the nation and to any member of the public interested in the subject. As of 16 April, the series has garnered over 1.24 million views.

The headquarters of OUC has actively encouraged its faculty and staff to engage in online self-directed learning. Various branches and schools have also launched related activities. For example, the Changchun Branch held micro-lectures on national security; the Hubei Branch carried out a campaign themed "Legal System Enters Campus, Security Accompanies Me"; the Henan Branch conducted a "No Small Matter in National Security, Everyone is a Guardian" signature campaign; and the Zhejiang Branch organised a "National Security from My Perspective" video collection event, among others.

During the event, various branches and schools actively organised students to participate in the "National Security Knowledge Quiz for College Students," guiding and encouraging them to learn and master the knowledge of national security laws and regulations through answering questions. Students from all regions showed a high level of enthusiasm for learning.

Through the activities held on 2024 National Security Education Day, the faculty and students of OUC have deepened their understanding of national security, enhanced their ability to mitigate various national security risks, and fostered a robust culture of "national security is everyone's responsibility." These efforts have also strengthened the public's sense of responsibility and mission to actively participate in national security efforts.
