The Seniors University of China (SUC) recently hosted a celebration event in Beijing to mark the establishment of its School of Proactive Health.

The event was presided over by Wang Qiming, the secretary of the Party Committee and president of the Open University of China (OUC), also known as the SUC. During the event, Fan Xuanrui, a member of the Party Committee and vice president of the OUC (SUC), officially announced the decision to establish the School of Proactive Health at the SUC. Additionally, the first cohort of experts selected for hiring by the School was revealed.

The establishment of the School of Proactive Health is a key step in comprehensively implementing the national strategy such as the Health China Initiative and proactively addressing population ageing. It also represents a significant action in fulfilling the mission of the SUC: “cultivating virtue, pursuing lifelong learning, proactively maintaining health, embracing a joyful life, and achieving positive accomplishments.”

The School of Proactive Health will enhance its course resource system and develop high-quality courses focused on proactive health maintenance, leveraging the OUC's operational and service system. The School's proactive health education will be delivered through a blended online and offline model.

The inaugural group of expert representatives from the SUC's School of Proactive Health engaged in discussions and communication. This group included Cao Hongxin, former president and chief researcher at the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences; Ji Xunming, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, as well as a member of the standing committee of the Party Committee and vice president of Capital Medical University. Key personnel from the Ministry of Education, National Health Commission, and Ministry of Civil Affairs also participated in the meeting.
