On 30 June 2023, the Learning Resources Department (Digital Library) of the Open University of China (OUC) and the School of Fundamental Education at Beijing Polytechnic College (BPC) convened a symposium for research and exchange in the field.

Representatives from OUC, including director Li Wei, deputy director Ye Chao, Cheng Qian, and other relevant personnel from the Learning Resources Department, along with dean Shen Jie, vice dean Sun Chuan, and other responsible personnel from BPC's School of Fundamental Education, attended the event. The symposium was chaired by Yu Qijing from OUC's Academic Affairs Department.

Li provided detailed insights into the development of resources and platforms for OUC's degree education, non-degree education, and senior education. Additionally, she highlighted the services offered by OUC's digital library to faculty and students, encompassing learning resources and literature materials. Recognizing the dual contexts of education digitalisation transformation and the pursuit of high-quality development in vocational education, Li emphasized the need for deeper collaboration between the OUC and the BPC. This collaboration should focus on aspects such as course resource development, reform of public foundational courses, and course development, with the ultimate goal of achieving mutual high-quality development.

Shen expressed that the visit to OUC's "Internet Plus" Exhibition Centre provided the participants with a more comprehensive and vivid understanding of OUC's vision to "build a digital university that connects the world" and its innovative accomplishments in digital learning resources. He expressed hope that the symposium would facilitate deeper mutual understanding and clarify the direction for future cooperation between the two institutions. Furthermore, Shen anticipated that the BPC could enhance the digital teaching capabilities of its teachers by leveraging OUC's expertise in digital learning resource development and digital teaching.

The two parties also reached a broad consensus on various topics, including teacher sharing, sharing of virtual resources and facilities for practical training, teaching at practical training bases, training for blended teaching abilities, integration of ideological and political education into the curriculum, reform of public foundational courses, and resource sharing for artisan-style experts.
