On 13th June, the OUC held a video conference on the deployment of the Spring Semester Final Examination for 2023. Li Song, a member of the Party Committee and vice president of the OUC, attended the meeting and delivered a speech, while Gu Xiaohua, director of Academic Affairs Department, presided over the meeting.

Li Song pointed out that 2023 is the starting year for fully implementing the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, as well as the year of vigorous efforts for the OUC to launch the "Six Major Projects" and promote high-quality development. The OUC system must unite and plan together to promote the reform of examination work, and enhance the quality and excellence of open education. In this regard, he put forward three requirements: First, to establish a new pattern of running the university, standardize examination management, and strengthen academic supervision; second, to prioritize students, enhance service consciousness, and improve management capabilities; third, to promote digital construction, facilitate the transformation and upgrading of examinations, and strictly uphold the bottom line of examinations. He emphasized that building a world-class open university is not only a historic responsibility entrusted by the country but also a rare historical opportunity. As a part of the higher education community, the OUC must adhere to high-quality development and make greater contributions to the world and China.

Gu Xiaohua mentioned that examination work is an important means to accelerate the high-quality development of education. All branches and colleges should shoulder their main responsibilities effectively. The chief examiners at each examination site should attach great importance to the organisation of examinations. Everyone should work together to ensure the "quality of examinations" and contribute to the construction of a strong education nation.
