China’s Ministry of Education (MOE) has announced the results of a high-profile speaking competition, with two candidates from the Open University of China (OUC) awarded prizes. The theme of the youth speech contest was titled: “Implementing the Guiding Principles of the 20th National Congress of the CPC, Embarking on the New Journey of Making Contributions to the Nation. ”

Li Yingjie, an employee in the OUC Discipline Inspection and Audit Department, won second prize for a speech titled: “Serving Rural Revitalisation, Dedication to Education.” Qi Shu, a teacher in the OUC School of Marxism, won the Excellence Award for her speech titled: “Fostering Virtue through Education, Becoming an Enterprising Youth.”

As the spirit and framework of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China is promoted among young people, the prize winners of the contest are expected to serve as role models. It is hoped all young people are similarly able to conduct an in-depth study and implementation of the 20th National Congress of the CPC, contribute their wisdom and strength to building a high level of morale, developing education that meet people’s expectations, and building a society and country of learning where lifelong learning is pursued by all.
