On 20 April 2022, the OUC held a summary and commendation meeting for the 7th China International Internet Plus College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition and a kick-off meeting for the 8th Competition.
The meeting was conducted via remote two-way video link. Secretary of the Party Committee and president of the OUC, Jing Degang, and deputy secretary of the Party Committee, Liu Chen, attended the meeting. The meeting was presided over by Liu Chen.
Jing Degang summarised the participation and awards of the 7th competition and announced that RMB 2 million would be awarded to each of the five teams that won the gold medal in the national competition. In addition, RMB 1 million would be awarded to each of the eight teams that won the silver medal in the national competition, and RMB 500,000 would be awarded to each of the 16 teams that won the bronze medal in the national competition. Jing Degang put forward five expectations for the 8th competition. First, the 8th competition should be given high priority from a strategic perspective. Second, innovation and entrepreneurship education should be combined with teaching to cultivate students’ sense of innovation and entrepreneurial ability. Third, it is hoped that participating in the competition can improve students’ learning abilities and enhance the level of education and teaching skills to promote innovation and entrepreneurship development. Fourth, through the competition, the OUC should set up a number of “gold courses” focusing on innovation and entrepreneurship. Fifth, a good atmosphere should be formed to improve the quality and image of the OUC through innovation and entrepreneurship, and ultimately achieve a win-win situation.

Zhang Luanqiao, director of the OUC Department of Students Affairs and Teacher Development, explained the relevant rules of the 8th competition. Sun Hongfei, director of the OUC Experimental School of the OUC, and Hu Zhibiao, deputy director of the Department of the Publicity and Student Affairs Development of the Zhengjiang Branch, shared their competition experiences.
Heads of the OUC Department of Students Affairs and Teacher Development, the Academic Affairs Department, the Information Technology Department, the Department of Public Information, the Faculty of Agroforestry and Medicine (Rural Revitalisation College), and the Experimental School attended the meeting. Over 700 people, including the heads and relevant personnel of each branch of the OUC and the Party secretary and president of each branch, attended the meeting via the video link at the main branch venue.
