A total of 661candidates were recommended to the OUC headquarters. On 8 April 2021, the OUC arranged for experts to review the application materials submitted.

Following the expert review and publicity process, it was decided that Li Jiaqi and 660 other students would be awarded the title of 2021 OUC Outstanding Graduate.

The outstanding graduates selected for 2021 are studious, hard-working, have demonstrated exceptional academic performance, and have made essential contributions to their community. They come from all walks of life and represent a variety of professions, including grassroots workers, farmers, teachers, police officers, medical workers, and soldiers from frontier areas, as well as leaders and cadres from enterprises and public institutions, and students with disabilities. No matter their occupation or position, they have all contributed to society and deserve public recognition. Many of the graduates have already received honorary titles such as National May 1st Labour Medal, National Anti-Poverty Role Model, Outstanding CPC Member, Female Role Model, National Model Technician, National Model Teacher, Moral Model, National Role Model of People’s Mediator, some of them win the titles of team champion and individual runner-up in the foil event of Tokyo Paralympics.

The OUC hope that the students being commended will cherish and value this honour and take it as an incentive to work even harder in their future study and work and strive to make even greater achievements. It is hoped that other students will learn from the examples of the outstanding graduates and spare no efforts in aiming for higher goals and ideals in order to become high quality talents that can serve China.
