DIY Children's-carriage Teaching Aid
The DIY Children's-carriage Teaching Aid is an educational aid aiming to enhance the intelligence as well as the hand and teamwork skills of children aged 3 to 15, its modular and flexible assembly allowing them to learn science through play. They can assemble more than 20 forms of “carriage” based on their own ideas and methods, developing their imagination and creativity while enhancing their connections with teachers, parents, and each other.
Bearing in mind the size of the child-education market and competitiveness of the industry, this project is committed to enhancing the teaching of science and technology while reducing the burden of homework and off-campus classes for children. It has won a national patent, as well as the Yangzhou Youth Science and Technology Innovation award, and the team will continue to promote product innovation and industrial upgrading.
The teaching aid, developed by the Experimental School of the OUC, won a gold medal in the competition.
Liaoxi Equipment - Domestic Solar-collector Vacuum Coating
The project team brought together Machinery, Electrical Engineering, New Energy, Vacuum, Computer, Accounting, Marketing, and other majors from Liaoning Open University with both academic and work experience relevant to building solar collectors.
It undertook three years of technical research in magnetron sputtering, ion-source activation, plasma-spectrum detection, and four-layer membrane technology to independently develop a domestic solar-collector vacuum-coating production line with novel solar-energy absorbent coating, enhancing the heat collection, adhesion, weather resistance, and consistency of the coating while achieving pollution-free production. This is the first of its kind in China. It meets a need there, and according to the National Solar Heater Inspection Centre reaches the level of similar products overseas. It accelerates the integration of solar and thermal buildings in China and boosts the achievement of "carbon neutrality" in the country.
This project has won a national patent for inventions and two utility-model patents; it received a gold medal in the competition.

“Smart Eye” Inspection and Maintenance System
The smart-eye team was formed by students from Henan RTVU (Zhengzhou Vocational University of Information and Technology) who are passionate young entrepreneurs.
The Smart-eye Inspection Solution is China's first integration of railway inspection, supervision and maintenance. China has over 140,000 km of rails in service, and high-speed trains need to be inspected every 48 hours or 4,000 km. At present, this inspection is a complicated, inefficient and costly hands-on process. With the new approach, problems can be efficiently detected using ultrasonic detection, while behavior-recognition technology can be used for one-stop supervision and inspection, and maintenance guided by augmented reality.
The Smart Eye team creates employment for 15 people directly, and indirectly for 100. It follows a "factory-in-school, school-in-factory" model, makes use of an industry-university-research platform, and provides veterans with skills training to enhance their employability and entrepreneurial skills.
This project won a silver medal in the competition.
