On 29 November 2021, the Economics sub-committee held its first plenary meeting in 2021 in order to implement the spirit of the first plenary meeting of the Academic Committee of the Open University of China (OUC) and further strengthen the construction for the economics sub-committee.

All members of the sub-committee and teacher representatives of the Faculty of Economics and Management attended the meeting via video link. Professor Yang Dongmei, director of the sub-committee and director of Academic Affairs Department of Tianjin Open University, presided over the meeting.

Professor Liu Zhifang, deputy director of the sub-committee and vice dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management, summed up the main work of the sub-committee in 2021, and conveyed the relevant requirements and suggestions for work in 2022 raised by the Secretariat of OUC Academic Committee to all sub-committees. Ten members from branches including Jilin, Ningxia, Beijing, and the School of Automotive Engineering exchanged their respective work and research progress and jointly discussed the development of the sub-committee for 2022.

Professor She Jinghuai, a member of the sub-committee and first-prize winner of the OUC 2021 Teaching Achievement Award, gave a special lecture on his experiences of applying the prize from the aspects of topic selection, specific design, and paper work. Associate Professor Hou Lixin, head of the School of Finance of the Faculty of Economics and Management, conducted in-depth exchanges with the other members on ideas for the development of the Taxation and Government Procurement majors.

Professor Yang Dongmei stated in her summary that it was the sub-committee’s first plenary meeting since the establishment of the third OUC Academic Committee. In the future, the sub-committee will study and implement the spirit of the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. It will continuously improve its political judgment, comprehension, and executive force, further implement the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, work hard and forge ahead together to jointly promote greater progress in  Economics majors in the OUC system, and contribute to the OUC’s academic prosperity.
