In November 2021, a group of expert examiners from the China Quality Certification Centre (CQC) conducted its annual assessment of the quality-management system of the Open University of China (OUC) Press. The group, after examining the materials submitted by the Press, a total of 357 documents, concluded that it has a sound and effective quality-management system that not only meets system standards but is deserving of high praise.

Since its establishment 40 years ago, the OUC Press has striven to serve the people and the cause of socialism, along with the teaching and research of the OUC, promoting lifelong learning and the growth of both itself and the university as a whole through publication and innovative development of high-quality textbooks and other works. In December 2020, the Press obtained the ISO 9001 Quality-management System Certificate from the CQC, signifying the latest step in its development.

The OUC Press has always placed social benefits first, implementing and promoting national guidelines for the construction of teaching materials in the “new era” through enhanced censorship and educational value, while conscientiously implementing the policies and regulations of publication-management departments. A complete system of process management has been implemented with a focus on quality, service, personal responsibility and efficiency. In the quality assessments organised by the National Press and Publications Administration over the years, all OUC Press publications have been deemed to meet standards. The Press was also prominent at the first National Textbook-construction Awards in 2021, with 13 kinds of textbook named National Excellent Textbook.

Under the framework of the ISO 9001 quality-management system, the OUC Press will continue to adhere to its mission as a cultural enterprise, abiding by national policies, laws, and publishing-management regulations, and strictly controlling process and quality in order to achieve high-quality management. At the same time, based on its position within the OUC system, it will work on behalf of society as a whole, enhancing its market adaptability, competitiveness, and capacity for sustainable development by making full use of emerging technologies to develop new high-level and three-dimensional teaching materials.
