OUC delegation visited Egypt's Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR). FAN Xianrui introduced OUC's development and requested the MOHESR's support for establishing learning centres in collaboration with Egyptian universities. Minister Mohamed Ayman Ashour praised OUC's digital education efforts and recommended Ain Shams University as a partner for a joint learning centre.
The delegation also engaged with representatives from Ain Shams University, Badr University, and the Confucius Institute at Suez Canal University on building overseas learning centres, faculty and student exchanges, and student programmes in China. Additionally, they met with Huawei Egypt, a strategic partner of OUC, to discuss future cooperation on learning centre initiatives.
The future establishment of the Egypt Open Learning Centre (Cairo) will serve as a key platform for deepening China-Egypt cooperation in education and enhancing exchanges in science, technology, and culture, which was also the implementation of President XI Jinping's instructions at the 16th BRICS Summit “to establish ten overseas learning centres in BRICS countries over the next five years”.
