The programme caters to the diverse and individual learning needs of the society and aims to foster application-oriented professionals with strong theoretical foundation, practical skills and abilities in the profession of computer science and technology. The graduates should be able to engage in the application, development and design of information technology for the frontline of the industry. 

I. Training Objectives and Standards

Undergraduate programme(start from junior college level) for part-time students to complete the programme within eight years . Minimum length of study should be no less than two and half years.

The graduates should be able to engage in the application, development and design of information technology for the frontline of the industry. 

Students should have a strong sense of patriotism and a desire to strive to serve the people. They should be law-abiding and have strong social morals and professional ethics. 

Professional Requirements:

(1) A solid grasp of the basic knowledge and theory of the professional and the basic skills required for the design, development and application of computer software and hardware;

(2) Knowledge of the status and trends in science and technology within the profession and a strong ability to acquire knowledge, and to analyse and solve problems;

(3) A relatively good understanding of written English technological materials relevant to the profession.

II. Core Courses

Basics of Computer Applications (undergraduate),Discrete Mathematics, Principles of Computer Organisation, C Language Programme Design, Data Structures, Operating Systems, Computer Networks, Database Application Technology, Software Engineering.

III. Graduation

The minimum number of credits required to graduate from this major is 72. Graduates who obtainthe required number of credits and meet themoral education requirements will be awarded with a nationally-recognised undergraduate graduation certificate of higher education. Those qualified for the degree requirements will be conferred with a bachelor degree of engineering.
