23 April 2025 marks the 30th World Book Day. The Open University of China (OUC) and the Seniors University of China (SUC) organised a themed event "Guoyun Shuxiang: Opening Books to Unlock New Horizons." The event aimed to harness the power of reading to foster a culture of literacy, positioning OUC as a catalyst for building a “reading-enthusiastic society”. The activity was jointly launched by the OUC Library (University History Museum), Learning Resources Department, Publicity Department, Labour Union, and Publishing & Media Group.

The event featured a vibrant lineup of activities including book recommendations, thematic exhibitions, popular science interactions at the "Academician Lecture Series", showcase of achievements in promoting nationwide reading, "Books Shared, Hearts United" book donation, and Victory Ceremony for the "21-Day Cloud Reading Campaign".

As an important activity of OUC 2025 Reading Campaign, the “Guoyun Shuxiang: Opening Books to Unlock New Horizons” Reading Event opens to the OUC headquarters, its nationwide education network, and the broader public. By integrating digital and traditional reading, online learning and offline engagement, the campaign attracts diverse groups such as OUC students and faculty, industrial workers, and senior citizens across China, which helps them to make reading a lifelong habit.
