Beijing, 22 April 2025 – To celebrate the 30th World Book Day, the Seniors University of China (SUC) organised an intergenerational reading event, attracting over 3 million elderly participants nationwide.
Professor YAO Xishuang from the Communication University of China, led a thematic session focused on "Lucid Waters and Lush Mountains". Through guided intergenerational reading, he mentored SUC senior students and schoolchildren to read the book together, which enhanced the recitation techniques of the participants and deepened their awareness of the importance of ecological conservation. The activity reinforced the principle that "protecting lucid waters and lush mountains is safeguarding humanity's shared homeland".
Eight recitation instructors from SUC's nationwide education system took the stage as leaders in a relay, launching a joint recitation broadcast. Together, they demonstrated professional vocal techniques and collectively celebrated the poetic charm of China's natural landscapes through classical and contemporary works.
Delivered via a hybrid online-offline format, the event engaged elderly audiences across all regional branches of SUC. It garnered widespread attention from elderly friends nationwide and received their enthusiastic feedback.
