Q: What was your initial motivation for studying at OUC?

A: Since 1984, I have dedicated myself to the healthcare industry, now spanning 40 years. Throughout my career, I have witnessed numerous life-and-death moments and faced various challenges. Regardless of the difficulties, I have remained steadfast in my nursing role, caring for every patient, especially those with AIDS, with professional knowledge and compassion. AIDS patients require not only physical treatment but also spiritual comfort and care. Therefore, I always prioritise the patients, providing them with comprehensive nursing services.

To continuously improve myself, I chose to study at the Open University of China (OUC). The university offered me an open and inclusive learning environment, allowing me to arrange my study time and methods flexibly, enabling me to integrate my studies with my work. Here, I not only gained extensive medical knowledge but also acquired more management skills and learned how to apply theoretical knowledge to practical work, laying a solid foundation for my personal growth and career development.

Over the years, I have received some honours and recognitions, which are not only a testament to my personal achievements but also an acknowledgment of the nursing profession I am engaged in.

Q: What have you gained from studying at OUC?

A: During my studies at OUC, I gained the power of knowledge and the capacity for self-improvement, which are crucial for my future development and success.

At OUC, I was exposed to a wealth of academic knowledge and practical experience, which not only broadened my horizons but also allowed me to understand the world and solve problems more comprehensively. Through learning, I acquired new skills and theories, enabling me to confidently handle complex cases and provide better nursing services to patients.

In the learning environment at OUC, I learned how to think independently, study autonomously, and make continuous progress. I also learned how to set learning goals, make learning plans, and persistently work towards these goals. These self-motivation and self-management skills have allowed me to challenge myself, surpass myself, and achieve continuous personal growth, which is reflected not only in my professional skills but also in my passion and persistent pursuit of the nursing profession.

During my time at the university, I also cultivated valuable relationships and friendships. I engaged in discussions with my classmates, shared experiences, and encouraged one another, creating many memorable moments together. These experiences not only enhanced my communication skills and teamwork spirit but also brought me precious friendships and mentors in life.

Q: What are your best wishes for the university's 45th anniversary?

I sincerely hope that the university will continue to deepen its reforms, enhance the quality of education, and provide more students with excellent educational resources and a superior learning platform. I extend my best wishes for the university's 45th anniversary, hoping for continued success in cultivating a multitude of distinguished graduates and ensuring the university's legacy of excellence and enduring prosperity.
