Students in the Model Worker Class who enrolled in 2011 and 2012 in Qingdao Radio & TV University (Qingdao RTVU) organized a blood drive at the Bus No.6 terminus to repay the Qingdao Federation of Trade Unions, Qingdao RTVU, and people from all sectors of the society. The activity also drew attention to June 14 — World Blood Donor Day. Yu Rui, chairman of the Qingdao Federation of Trade Unions, Huang Tonghua, party secretary of Qingdao RTVU Party Committee and president of Qingdao RTVU, Yang Weicheng, president of the Qingdao Model Worker Association, and other leaders from the Qingdao Public Health Bureau, Qingdao Blood Center, Qingdao Public Transportation Group, etc also participated in the event.
Student Jiao Limin read the voluntary blood donation proposal prepared on behalf of the model workers, and encouraged all Qingdao model workers to actively participate in public service activities, such as blood donation. The president of the Qingdao Model Worker Association, Yang Chengwei, also delivered a speech and highly praised this activity. Then a flag with “Model Workers’ Public Service Activities” written on it was presented to Model Worker Class by Yu Rui, chairman of the Qingdao Federation of Trade Unions.
Students of the Model Worker Class participated in the blood drive, even lining up in order to donate blood. It is estimated that more than 30 model workers showed up to donate, some of which had participated in the blood donation programme for more than ten consecutive years. Zhao Lei, a Qingdao Model Worker from the Qingdao Public Utilities Charge Service Center said that voluntary blood donation could radiate positive energy and contribute to the realization of the “Chinese Dream”.
