Despite the heavy snow, on March 9, 2013 Harbin RTVU launched a “Lecture Room” for open learning at its 303 multi-media classroom.

The “Lecture Room” is designed to provide Harbin residents

with a platform to learn about culture, improve themselves, better understand Harbin RTVU, enhance the influence of the university and better serve local residents. It is hoped that it will spread advanced cultural concepts, and promote the construction of a learning-oriented society and lifelong learning system.

The lectures will be held once or twice a week, 40 times a year. Topics will center on literature, finance, law, history, education, life, the interpretation of Chinese and western classics, and the cultivation of thinking ability. The lectures will be taught by prominent experts and professors from Harbin RTVU. The lectures will be recorded and posted on the Harbin RTVU Library website. Local residents can attend the lectures for free.

The launch ceremony and first lecture attracted over 40 local residents, and teachers and students from Harbin RTVU. Library curator Pan Jun gave the first lecture. It discussed a wide range of subjects including reading, thinking, education, living and working.
