From May to October 2018, Sichuan Radio & TV University (Sichuan RTVU) held its 4th poetry-recital competition, with 15 competitors reaching the final after the preliminary competitions and quarterfinals.

The competitors recited both classic ancient poems and great modern ones, in different styles: some exciting, others powerful, elegant, vivid or expressive. These recitals presented a brilliant blend of beautiful music, voice and emotion, conveying the charm of Chinese culture and providing a feast for the audience. The competitors were given grades and awarded prizes: one first prize, two second prizes, four third prizes, and some group prizes.

The first competition was held in 2012, with three successful sessions before this year’s; in 2017, it placed second among OUC campus activities. It has helped enhance campus culture, attracting many teachers and students to participate, and become an important language and cultural activity.

The competition has enhanced the language abilities and cultural sensitivity of those involved. In reciting Chinese classics, students have gained an enjoyment and understanding of Chinese culture, and helped to carry forward Chinese civilisation.
