On July 16th of 2014, Tianjin RTVU celebrated its 56th birthday. On the same day, the 5th Learning Festival was convened, and the Tianjin Lifelong Learning Network mutually organized by Tianjin RTVU and people.com.cn went online. Thus, Tianjin RTVU’s 5th Learning Festival and the 56th Anniversary were both held on the same day.
Yang Zhijian, President of the OUC, and Lu Jingquan, Deputy Director of Tianjin Educational Committee attended the meeting and delivered speeches. A total of more than 300 people attended the event, including Feng Xuefei, President of Tianjin RTVU, Zhou Zhi, Vice Party Secretary, Vice Presidents Zhao Jinghua and Wang Fanzhen, Wang Jingchun, Head of the Party Internal Discipline Department of Tianjin RTVU, Zhang Qingsheng, Director of the Adult Education Department of the Tianjin Educational Committee, consultants from all the departments of Tianjin RTVU, leaders from branches and workstations, representatives of teachers and students in the RTVU system, along with the entire teaching and administrative staff from the municipal campus, attended in the activities. Vice Party Secretary Zhou Zhi hosted the meeting.
Yang Zhijian, President of the Open University of China (OUC), and Gao Shuguo, Director of Strategy Research at the National Centre for Education Development Research, each delivered special reports on “Selection and Reconstruction” and “Interpreting ‘The Decision on Speeding up the Development of Modern Vocational Education by the State Council’”. Yang Zhijian emphasized in his report that building up the OUC necessitates extending global vision and opening up thinking, modes, methods, and objects. The plate awarding ceremony of (Tianjin) Pilot Learning Centre of the OUC was held on the site. Prizes and certificates were awarded to 2013 excellent graduate representatives of the China Central Radio and TV University (CCRTVU), 2013 scholarship representatives of Tianjin RTVU, the representatives of the third (management) teaching basic skills contest for young teachers in Tianjin RTVU system, the representatives of excellent research results at mid-level management staff, and representatives of the teaching and administrative staff who have won prizes in the photography contest. Yang Zhijian, Lu Jingquan, and Feng Xuefei delivered concluding remarks separately.
At the meeting, the President of the OUC Yang Zhijian, the Deputy Director of Tianjin Educational Committee Lu Jingquan, the President of the Tianjin RTVU Feng Xuefei, along with the former President of Tianjin Branch of People’s Daily Ao Teng, launched the Tianjin Lifelong Learning Network. The network was created jointly by Tianjin RTVU, Tianjin Society of Lifelong Education, and the Tianjin Windows of people.com.cn. It is a large non-profit learning portal website in harmony with the goal: “all people can learn anywhere and anytime”. The website covers such fields as fundamental education, vocational skills, career guidance, cultural cultivation, life, leisure, and medical care. It will exert fully the advantages of no limits on time or location to relieve the conflicts between work and study; satisfy personalized study demands from learners with different learning types, at different levels, or with different requirements. From now on, citizens can choose the curriculum, receive learning experience, and enjoy interactive discussions according to their own work and interests.
Tianjin RTVU used the School Anniversary to set up the Learning Festival with the aim to review history, summarize experience, plan for the future, and promote the RTVU’s education so as to further emancipate the minds, innovate, and develop in a scientific way. During this year's Learning Festival, Tianjin RTVU carried out such activities as the awarded works exhibition of teaching and administrative staff, the achievement exhibition of School of Calligraphy, and books donation for teaching staff.
