In order to promote a sense of responsibility among the teaching staff, and to encourage all teachers to take the initiative in participating in the management of the university, Ninghai School of Ningbo RTVU initiated a weekly teacher review programme. In the four years since the launching of the activity, a great number of teachers have positively participated in it and have played an important role in the transitional development of the school.

The Ninghai School currently employs 26 regular teachers, who have undertaken the teaching and management of the more than 3,700 enrolled adult students. It is the main force in adult degree education and vocational training in Ninghai County.

In August of 2010, Ninghai school added a special agenda into the regular meeting held every Monday morning, the Weekly Review. Under the arrangement, the teacher on duty was responsible for reviewing the work of the last week. Weekly Review includes three items: weekly work summary, good examples, and criticism and suggestions. The “weekly work summary” is to summarize relative work in the school during the previous week and take notes on major events in the school so as to compile a complete record of affairs. “Good examples” is a chance to take note of the outstanding points of some teachers, and to set up positive role models in the form of storytelling so as to promote the construction of professional ethics. “Criticism and suggestions” is a chance to offer constructive criticism on the problems existing in the work of the school and the bad example of some individual teachers, and put forward suggestions and opinions about the work in the school so that the leaders of the school and various departments can put their heads together to resolve problems in a time manner. 

It is widely known that the teachers of Ninghai School have been committed to the “weekly review” for four years, during which time they have truly enjoyed it. They have recorded and paid attention to each tiny part of every teacher around them by using pictures and words, digging out their good points, while at the same time thinking positively about the transitional development of the school and putting forward rationalized proposals. When the time comes for the summary on Monday, the teacher on duty takes full advantage of multimedia, including using videos, pictures, and brief texts to vividly show the work situation of the week, remarking on the teachers’ highlights in the work, and putting forward the existing problems and relative proposed solutions to keep the school’s work progressing. 

The dean of Ninghai School, Tong Fujun, said that, “ I am the one who shall take the responsibility for the things in the school. The ‘weekly review’ can make each teacher on duty enjoy the right to criticize, appraise, suggest, and manage. ‘Weekly review’ gives full expression to the sense of democracy and spirit of ownership, and has played an important role in constructing a harmonious and progressive teachers‘ team and campus culture in Ninghai School."

Teachers have said that now each of the teachers has their own highlights and tries hard to become a model teacher. The internal atmosphere of the school tends to be less vulgar and more healthy, while there is less contradiction and more harmony.
