On May 15th of 2014, a “Rural RTVU Bookstore” of the Heilongjiang Branch of the OUC was inaugurated in the Mongolian School in Tailai County of Heilongjiang Province, becoming the first of its kind in the province. The OUC also opened an “electronic periodicals reading room for teenagers” for the school at the same time.

Vice President of the OUC Zhang Hui and Vice President of the Heilongjiang Branch of the OUC Li Bo jointly conferred a plaque to the Mongolian School in Tailai County. On behalf of the OUC, Zhang Hui donated three computers to the Rural RTVU Bookstore and opened the digital library of the OUC as an electronic periodicals reading room for the teenagers. On behalf of the Heilongjiang Branch of the OUC, Li Bo donated 1,580 books and three computers to the Rural RTVU Bookstore.

Zhang Hui offered positive comments on the achievements of the Heilongjiang Branch in school management and the implementation of Hand in Hand — Reading Action of the Youth in Rural Areas. He said that the Mongolian School's location in Tailai County was a fitting site for the placement of the Rural RTVU Bookstore, as it would bring many benefits in reading and education to the rural children as they mature, the Heilongjiang Branch thereby showcasing the OUC’s characteristics of being oriented towards rural communities, grassroots development, remote areas and ethnic minority areas. It also conformed to the original intention of promoting reading. The OUC employees should adhere to the fine tradition of imparting knowledge and educating people, exerting its pioneering and innovative spirit to comprehensively promote reading activity across all walks of life.

Li Bo stated that the construction of the bookstore by the Heilongjiang Branch was not just an outward show, but truly reflected a deep sense of responsibility and commitment. The school would continue to undertake the task of spreading education in remote areas and exert fully the effect that such grassroots efforts can have in the popularization and promotion of rural education.
