From 7th to 9th April, 2023, in order to further give full play to the advantages of the Seniors University of China (SUC) system, understand the situation of grassroots elderly education, and effectively accelerate the quality of elderly education, Liu Chen, the deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the Open University of China (OUC, also known as the SUC), led a team to conduct research on elderly education work in Hainan Province.

The research team visited the Wuzhishan Municipal People's Government, Hainan Open University, Sanya Community Education Guidance Centre, Junhe Juntai Art Museum's Elderly Education Learning Centre, and other places to conduct on-site inspections of elderly education campus environments and hardware facilities at different provincial, municipal, county, and village levels. They also held a work exchange symposium.

Liu Chen carefully listened to the work reports of elderly education supervisors at various levels and conducted in-depth exchanges on issues and needs related to the construction of the elderly education system, platform resources, enrollment and teaching, and characteristic activities.

Liu Chen and his team also went to the front line of elderly education and had in-depth conversations with elderly students to understand their learning status and needs. He stated that through the OUC's four-level management system and the national elderly education public service platform, high-quality learning resources can be delivered to community stations and to the doorsteps of the elderly to meet their diverse learning needs.
