Beijing, 23-25 2026 - A delegation from the Open University of Tanzania (OUT), led by Prof. Saganga M. Kapaya, Deputy Vice Chancellor and Dr. Zainabu Massoro, Minister Plenipotentiary, Embassy of the United Republic of Tanzania in China, visited the Open University of China (OUC). Dr. LI Song, Vice President of OUC, warmly welcomed the delegation.

During the meeting, Dr. LI Song noted that this visit comes at a time when China-Africa educational cooperation continues to deepen under the framework of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC). He expressed the hope that both sides would take this opportunity to explore pathways for inter-university exchange and cooperation, and advance the construction of Open Learning Centres.
Prof. Saganga M. Kapaya spoke highly of OUC's innovative practices and educational achievements, and expressed hope for deepening bilateral cooperation in resource development, faculty and student exchanges, and academic research.
Dr. Zainabu Massoro stated that the Tanzanian Embassy in China will fully support all cooperation between OUT and OUC, pushing China-Tanzania educational exchange to new heights.
The OUT delegation also visited the OUC Experimental College, Tianjin Open University, and the Beijing headquarters of iFLYTEK. Representatives from the OUC College of International Education and other relevant departments participated in the activities.
In 2017, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed by OUT and OUC, during OUC delegation’s visit to Tanzanina. The joint learning centre established by both universities was one of the OUC's first batch of Open Learning Centres in Africa.
Building on this exchange, OUC will work to turn cooperation initiatives into tangible outcomes, facilitate the sharing of educational resources and joint talent cultivation between China and Africa, and inject new momentum into China-Africa educational cooperation.
