Beijing, 9 January 2026 – Prof. Alexandre Martins, Vice President of Association of Universities in Network (UniRede) of Brazil, and Coordinator of the INOVATEC Project at the College of Science and Technology of the Federal University of Mato Grosso (UFMT), visited the Open University of China (OUC). OUC Vice President FAN Xianrui warmly welcomed the delegation.

Vice President FAN introduced OUC's distinctive features and recent achievements in open and distance education. She emphasised that OUC consistently keeps pace with the eras, actively promotes the deep integration of education and technology, strives to cultivate new drivers and new advantages for the innovative development of higher education, and continuously enhances its international influence and competitiveness.

The visiting experts shared the innovative initiatives and practical achievements of UFMT in adapting to the changing educational landscape. During the visit, they expressed their willingness to conduct in-depth cooperation with OUC in the future, with the expectation that through building consensus and refining cooperation pathways, they can provide more quality educational services to learners in both countries.

Representatives from OUC's Learning Resources Department, Department of Digitalisation, College of International Education, university-owned enterprises OUC Online, and OUC Fanzai attended the meeting to introduce their respective work and engage in exchange and discussion.

In 2025, LI Wei, Director of OUC's Learning Resources Department, participated in the 10th International Conference on Distance Higher Education (CIESUD) held in Brazil online. As one of the organising institutions of the conference, the Vice President of UniRede, Prof. Alexandre Martins' visit with his delegation is of great significance in promoting practical cooperation between China and Brazil in emerging educational technologies and achieving mutual benefit and win-win outcomes.
