Beijing, 7-8 November 2025 - Beijing Normal University (BNU), the Open University of China (OUC), and Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) jointly organised an international conference themed “Exploring the AI Frontier: Global Perspectives and Innovative Practices on AI in Higher Education, Training and Adult Learning”.

Over 30 experts and scholars from China, Germany, Singapore, the US, Japan, Romania, the Philippines, the UK, Italy, and Hong Kong, China, convened at BNU to explore innovative applications of AI in education, training, and adult learning. The conference fostered the development of an international outlook on AI-empowered education, with a special emphasis on lifelong learning.

Scholars Visit OUC for Academic Exchange

To gain deeper insights into the adult education systems of Germany and Singapore and to expand its global influence in lifelong education, the OUC Lifelong Education Research Institute invited Prof. Hannes Schröter from German Institute for Adult Education, Prof. ZENG Xiaodong from Faculty of Education at BNU, and Assoc. Prof. CHEN Zan from Singapore University of Social Sciences. OUC Vice President LI Song attended the meeting.

The conference highlighted OUC’s commitment to advancing the internationalisation and digital transformation of lifelong education. Moving forward, OUC will deepen academic exchanges with domestic and international universities and research institutions, using this international conference as a springboard. It will adhere to the principles of problem-orientation, innovation-driven development, and collaboration-based progress to promote research and practice in AI for adult and vocational education. The main goal is to provide intellectual support for building a learning society through digital- intelligent empowerment of lifelong education.

OUC scholars, including Prof. DU Ruo, Dean of Lifelong Education Research Institute, Dr. XIONG Ying, Vice Dean of the School of Foreign Languages, AN Qi from the School of Science and Engineering, and FU Rao from the Department of Student Affairs and Teacher Development, shared research findings and practical experience at the conference through keynote speeches and panel discussions. Their contributions provided a comprehensive showcase of OUC’s progress in leveraging digital intelligence to enhance adult lifelong learning.
