Wellington, New Zealand, 9-13 Nov. 2025 - At the invitation of the International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE) and Massey University, Dr. WANG Qiming, President of the Open University of China (OUC), led a delegation to New Zealand to attend the 30th ICDE World Conference.

On 10 November, Dr. WANG Qiming attended the ICDE Global Presidents' Forum, where he joined leaders of open and distance education institutions worldwide to discuss topics including scale and quality in open education. He also introduced OUC's initiatives and experience in improving open education through its "four platforms and one support" framework.

At the plenary session, Dr. WANG Qiming, as co-author of the book Mega-universities and opening education by design, joined ICDE President Mark Nichols and others at the New Book Launch Ceremony.

During the conference, the OUC delegation also visited Massey University. The two parties explored collaboration in staff and student exchanges, joint course development, and the establishment of overseas learning centre.
