On 27 August 2024, Fan Xianrui, a member of the Party Committee and vice president of the Open University of China (OUC), met with Dr. Guillaume Moumouni, president of the Beninese Students Association in China, and his delegation from the University of Abomey-Calavi, Benin.

The meeting focused on exploring collaborative initiatives, including the establishment of the OUC Benin Open Learning Centre (Future Academy).

Dr. Moumouni outlined the foundational aspects of the University of Abomey-Calavi and expressed his expectations for collaboration between the two institutions. He also shared his experiences since studying at Peking University in 1991 and his enduring commitment to fostering friendly exchanges between China and Benin. Fan Xianrui showcased the OUC’s achievements and experiences over its 45-year history and introduced the progress on the OUC Open Learning Centre (Future Academy). She also welcomed and expressed gratitude to Dr. Moumouni for his proactive efforts in promoting cooperation between the two sides.

Following the meeting, representatives from the College of International Education engaged in a dialogue with Dr. Moumouni and his delegation. The discussions delved into various areas  such as international Chinese education, online training in "Chinese + vocational skills," and the development of the Benin Open Learning Centre (Future Academy). They reached preliminary agreements, laying a solid foundation for subsequent collaborative efforts.
