On May 10, 2013, the Open University of China (OUC) and Tianjin Radio and TV University (Tianjin RTVU) co-hosted a forum and signing ceremony for comprehensive strategic cooperation. The two parties signed an agreement in the spirit of sharing and mutual benefit, pledging comprehensive strategic cooperation in educational systems, talent cultivation, teaching construction and other areas.OUC President Yang Zhijian, Tianjin Municipal Education Commission Vice Director Liu Xin, Tianjin RTVU Party Secretary Yu Maodong, and Tianjin RTVU President Feng Xuefei attended the forum and delivered speeches. Guangzhou RTVU Party Secretary Zhang Xiaohua also delivered a speech and congratulated the two parties. OUC Vice President Yan Bing chaired the forum, Tianjin RTVU Party Vice Secretary Wu Weiyi read the comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement, and Vice President Zhao Jinghua made a speech on behalf of Tianjin RTVU Binhai School. OUC Development and Planning Office Director Li Yanzhong, OUC Academic Affairs Director Kuang Guiqiu and Tianjin RTVU Academic Affairs Director Wang Youqi made speeches on behalf of their respective departments.
More than 50 people attended the ceremony, including Jing Hongyang, Director of Tianjin Binhai New Area Bureau of Education, Zhang Qingsheng, Tianjin Municipal Education Commission Director of Adult Training, and representatives from the OUC Information Management Department, News Office, Research Institute of Open and Distance Education, and Credit Bank Management Office. Some middle-level cadres of Tianjin RTVU were also present.
After the signing ceremony, a delegation led by President Yang Zhijian visited Tianjin RTVU International School and lit the starting ball for its establishment.
