From 14-15 March, 2013, the OUC organized a digital library application training course at Hebei RTVU, marking the beginning of the “Year of the Digital Library”. Over 100 attendees participated in the training, including teachers from Hebei RTVU, research directors and library technicians from prefecture- and city-level RTVUs.

Mr. Zhang Ruilin, curator of the OUC library, introduced the Nationwide RTVU Digital Library Construction Project and briefly described the resources and services provided by the digital library. He hopes that teachers and students will be able to take full advantage of the digital library, which is characterized by resource sharing.

OUC library technicians explained how to access the platform, and how to use China’s main document databases and the mobile digital library.

Zhao Guihe, vice-president of Hebei RTVU, pointed out that the “Year of the Digital Library” will benefit RTVUs through its emphasis on resource sharing. He hopes that participants will be able to make the best use of the digital library and that it will help teachers and students to promote teaching and scientific research at Hebei RTVU.

Feng Hongtao, director of Hebei RTVU’s Scientific Research Department, said that the “Year of the Digital Library” is of great significance for both teachers and students. The project makes the use of academic databases accessible to RTVU teachers and students nationwide for free.

The “Year of the Digital Library” project includes a series of training courses and lectures about the use of digital library resources. It hopes to serve RTVUs around China, promote the popularity of digital resources, and benefit teaching and scientific research.
