Beijing, 1-2 November 2025 - The 8th Science Festival Beijing session of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), themed “Curiosity Explores the Unknown, Science Connects the Future,” kicked off at China National Botanical Garden. The Open University of China (OUC) showcased its "Academician Lecture Series" publications and original creative products in the core exhibition area, attracting over 1,000 visitors and becoming a hit "science check-in spot."

At the OUC booth, highlights included “Academician Lecture Series” premium resources, award-winning audiovisual publications, and cultural items featuring academicians’ messages. Covering themes from “new-quality productive forces” and “large-scale scientific infrastructure” to “life sciences” and the “spirit of scientists,” these offerings gave visitors a gateway to the world of science. The event also streamed “Academician Lecture Series” course content, where the screen presence of academicians and their engaging explanations sparked lively discussions among parents and children. The creative products, blending scientific concepts with daily aesthetics, brought science to life in an accessible way. As one visitor remarked, “these designs are creative and subtly infuse the scientific spirit into daily life, which benefits me a lot.”

Launched by OUC in collaboration with the CAS and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, “Academician Lecture Series” champions the scientific spirit, popularises scientific knowledge, and advocates for scientific thinking and methods. Over 13 years, the initiative has engaged over 130 academicians and 300 national experts, curating 60 series, 778 episodes, and 19,000 minutes of high-quality content. Available on platforms like the Smart Education of China platform, it has reached 500 million viewers. The project has received over 50 national and ministerial-level awards, including the Chinese Government Publishing Award, and was recognised as a national new era lifelong learning brand project.
