Beijing, 15 September 2025 - The Seniors University of China (SUC), in collaboration with Tencent's Sustainable Social Value (SSV) Division, jointly launched the "Silver Age Access Initiative." FAN Xianrui, Member of the CPC Open University of China (OUC) Committee and Vice President of OUC and SUC, attended the event.
The "Silver Age Access Initiative" addresses issues in primary-level elderly education, including weak foundational development, insufficient supply of high-quality courses, and a shortage of professional teaching resources. Through social participation and digital empowerment, the initiative aims to enhance the inclusivity, accessibility, and convenience of public services for elderly education. It strives to ensure more older adults who can benefit from quality educational resources.
Vice President FAN stated that the "Silver Age Access Initiative" is an innovative measure to mobilise resources across society and jointly advance the development of SUC. She expressed the hope that the initiative would effectively integrate SUC’s high-quality educational resources with Tencent’s technological innovations to create a replicable model for elderly education at the primary level.
WANG Chong, Head of SSV, stated that the collaboration will focus on "Technology empowerment and ecological co-construction." By leveraging the laboratory’s technological and research capabilities and SUC’s high-quality educational resources, the cooperation will explore in areas such as innovation in teaching models.
In the autumn semester of 2025, the "Silver Age Access Initiative" will launch a pilot programme featuring the "Dual-Teacher Classroom" model in Yanqing District of Beijing and Shijiazhuang City of Hebei Province. This initiative aims to explore the development of a comprehensive, full-process digital support ecosystem for elderly education. Simultaneously, the project will invite famous experts and educators to conduct "Master Lectures" on education of national population ageing conditions, which will be made accessible to the public through the National Education Platform for the Elderly and Tencent's Video Channel.
