Qingdao, 30 August 2025 – The semi-finals of the dance category in the 2025 “Golden Age Cup” National Senior Arts Performance were held in Qingdao, Shandong Province. The event was jointly organised by the Seniors University of China (SUC) and China Education Television (CETV) and hosted by the Qingdao Branch of SUC.
FAN Xianrui, Vice President of SUC and the Open University of China (OUC); PAN Zhuo, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee of CETV; LI Minggang, Secretary of the CPC Committee of Qingdao Open University; SUN Mingming, President of Qingdao Open University; HAN Changli, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee of Qingdao Open University; and PAN Degang, Vice President of Qingdao University for the Aged attended the event.
FAN Xianrui highlighted that the National Senior Education Achievements Performance, a national flagship event initiated by SUC, has been successfully held for five consecutive years, with noticeable growth in categories, number of works and scale of participation. She noted that “silver-haired youths” from every corner of the country converged on Qingdao, letting their steps echo the waves and their passion keep youth eternal. This gathering across mountains and seas is not only a moving summer symphony but also a vivid example of “lifelong learning, active ageing and joyful living”. Going forward, SUC will continue to deepen collaboration and pursue joint construction and shared benefits with the Qingdao Branch and all sister units nationwide to widen the circle of high-quality senior education, striving to “replace one hospital bed with one classroom desk in a senior university”, and make still greater contributions to serving the construction of a leading country in education and a learning society.
PAN Zhuo underscored that CETV will seize this opportunity to use multiple channels to publicise the event so that more people can feel the vitality of senior education. CETV also looks forward to deepening cooperation with SUC and other senior education institutions across the country, to jointly explore new pathways for improving the quality and efficiency of senior education and create more spaces for older learners to enhance their life literacy.
LI Minggang noted that this is the fourth time Qingdao has hosted the dance category of the National Senior Education Achievements Performance, reflecting SUC’s trust and affirmation in the Qingdao Branch. He also expressed gratitude to headquarters for its support of senior education in Qingdao. He detailed the development achievements of the Qingdao Branch in recent years and expressed the hope that every senior participant can fully experience the artistic charm of culture and the open, inclusive vitality of Qingdao.
With dance as a bridge connecting hearts, the semi-finals attracted 1,137 entries and more than 10,000 participants. On the performance day, 27 teams and over 500 silver-haired dancers gathered in Qingdao to present captivating interpretations of classical and folk dances. After expert judges delivered professional evaluations and guidance, participants unanimously expressed that they had gained a great deal.
The 2025 “Golden Age Cup” National Senior Arts Performance is supported by the Beijing OUC Education Foundation, Taikang Life Insurance Co., Ltd., Beijing Taikang Yicai Public Welfare Foundation, Bell & Horn Education and Technology Beijing Co., Ltd., China Education Network Television and other partners. All semi-final activities are expected to conclude in early September.
