Xiamen, 11 April 2025 - The Seniors University of China (SUC) launched its “Healthy and Happy China Tour” programme - “Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Masters Lecture Series” in SUC’s Xiamen Branch.
CAO Hongxin, former President of the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences and Special Researcher to Counsellor’s Office of the State Council, delivered a themed lecture. FAN Xianrui, Vice President of the Open University of China (OUC) and SUC; PU Chuanwen, Distinguished Professor at the SUC Institute of Proactive Health; ZHAN Cangzhou, President of Xiamen Senior Citizen University and JIANG Xianli, Party Secretary of Xiamen Open University attended at the activity, which was presided over by TANG Ning, President of Xiamen Open University. The "TCM Masters Lecture Series" is a high-quality programme featured by preserving the essence of traditional Chinese medicine, being taught by master practitioners, and being senior-friendly and easy to learn and use. Through a combination of online master classes and offline lectures, this programme has reached approximately 64 million elderly learners nationwide. The activity in Xiamen was livestreamed on SUC’s platforms, the People’s Daily video app "Horizon," and Xiamen Media Group, attracting around 639,000 online viewers. The event effectively advanced the national health initiative and reinforced SUC’s strong guiding role in proactive health education.

In her speech, OUC and SUC Vice President FAN emphasised that SUC has always adhered to the educational principle of “morality, learning, health, happiness and fulfilment,” and has been continuously expanding a national elderly education network. The “Health and Happiness China Tour” is a key initiative to promote proactive health, leveraging the strong guiding role of expert knowledge dissemination. FAN stressed that the Xiamen Branch, as SUC’s first regional branch, has pioneered the “Xiamen model,” achieving systematic and coordinated development in elderly education through the integration of organisational and educational resources. Moving forward, SUC will further contribute to the establishment of a ubiquitous and accessible lifelong education system, serving the construction of a leading country in education.
