Recently, the Fourth Academic Committee of the Open University of China’s (OUC) Sub-Committee of Culture, History, Philosophy, and Arts (hereinafter referred to as "the Sub-Committee") held an academic event in Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province, focusing on the integrated development of academic instruction and ideological and political education into courses.
The event was jointly organised by the OUC Academic Committee and its Sub-Committee of Culture, History, Philosophy, and Arts, with Zhejiang Open University serving as the rotating member host.
Building on the excellent traditions of its predecessor, the Sub-Committee saw the chairman of the Academic Committee, Huang Pinghuai, deputy secretary of the Party Committee and president of Jiangxi Open University, present the rotating token to Huang Ruihong, the rotating member of the Sub-Committee. This rotation ceremony symbolises the orderly succession and continuous progress of the Sub-Committee's work.
Su Dekuang, a member of the Educator's Spirit Touring Lecture Group of the Ministry of Education, the head of the national-level ideological and political education demonstration course, a nationally renowned teacher for course-based ideological and political education, and a professor at Zhejiang University, delivered a special report titled "Students in Mind, Classrooms Everywhere" to teachers of culture, history, philosophy, and arts-related majors within the system. Based on his own work experience, he outlined for teachers the logical framework of ideological and political education into courses, analysed the evaluation criteria for achieving it, and aimed to fulfil the educational goal of fostering virtue through education.
Teachers from Zhejiang Open University shared their teaching explorations and successful practices of ideological and political education into courses at their institution.
The committee members also visited the Hangzhou branch of the China National Archives of Publications and Culture and Zhejiang University for study and research. Dai Yuqi, deputy director, professor, and PhD supervisor of the School of Marxism at Zhejiang University, addressed questions from the committee members and provided an in-depth interpretation of the Ren Shaobo’s statement , the Party secretary of Zhejiang University, who encapsulated the spiritual essence of course-based ideological and political education with the words "love, culture, history, and philosophy."
Ying Yue, vice president and a member of the Party Committee of Zhejiang Open University, along with members of the Sub-Committee, participated in the event.
