On 26 December 2023, the OUC organised an event to kick off enrolment for the Spring Semester of 2024.

Li Song, a member of the Party Committee and vice president of the OUC, attended the event and delivered a speech. The proceedings were presided over by Gu Xiaohua, director of the Academic Affairs Department.

Li Song emphasised that this year marks the commencement of an in-depth study and implementation of the guiding principles outlined in the 20th National Congress of the CPC. The OUC system must maintain a consistent focus on steady progress, thoroughly implement the new development concept, and establish a new development pattern. In doing so, it should aim to foster high-quality development and make substantial contributions to building a learning society where lifelong learning is pursued by all.

Li Song emphasised that high-quality development must be the central focus of enrolment activities in the coming period. It's crucial to maintain a specific scale of enrolment to foster, serve, and support a learning society where lifelong learning is embraced by everyone. In this context, he outlined three key requirements: First, the enrolment process should be rigorously standardised in all aspects; second, the school system needs to be enhanced and strengthened; third, efforts in enrolment publicity should be intensified, and a mechanism for collaborative promotion within the school system should be established.

Qi Wenxin, the deputy director of the Academic Affairs Department, delivered a keynote speech focusing on enrolment activities. She provided a comprehensive overview of the enrolment process for the Autumn semester of 2023 and outlined the plans for the upcoming Spring semester of 2024, as well as future steps in enrolment work.

Gu Xiaohua concluded the event with his insightful remarks. He underscored the necessity of standardising the school-running system, ensuring that normative requirements are consistently applied in all facets of the enrolment process. Additionally, he emphasised the importance of enhancing the school-running system's enrolment capacity to invigorate its overall dynamism. Furthermore, he highlighted the significance of utilizing new media and other popular platforms for conducting enrolment publicity. By creating an integrated media matrix, he stressed the need to strengthen the brand of the OUC.

Personnel responsible for enrolment from the headquarters' Academic Affairs Department attended the meeting on-site. Leaders and key staff in charge of enrolment from 57 branches, including schools and affiliated study centres, participated in the meeting online.
