The Open University of China (OUC) has held an offline training session on standard spoken and written Chinese as part of efforts to implement the guiding principles of the 20th Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), as it calls for “strengthening the promotion of standard spoken and written Chinese”.
The gathering took place from March 28 to April 2, 2023, in Zhumadian, Henan Province, under the guidance of the Ministry of Education’s (MOE) Department of Language Information Management. It brought together more than 100 trainees from across China, including employees in the elderly care sector and services for people with disabilities.
The training session focused on the importance of demonstration and guidance, the exchange of learning outcomes, and the implementation of a long-term training mechanism. The online teaching platform used by the OUC has also been expanded to upload and display the trainees’ learning outcomes. A total of 61 outcomes have been submitted by groups or individuals.
At the closing ceremony, an exhibition was held to show the work of outstanding trainees. They shared their experience of the training, emphasising how it had helped them to develop their ideas and abilities while broadening their horizons and deepening their confidence.
