On 6th April2023, the Open University of China (Seniors University of China -SUC) held a cooperation negotiation meeting with China National Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd. (Sinopharm). Jing Degang, the secretary of Open University of China 's Party Committee and president, held talks with Zhou Song, the secretary of Sinopharm International's Party Committee and general manager, and signed a strategic cooperation agreement on behalf of both parties.

According to the agreement, SUC and Sinopharm will work together to create a benchmark educational project with national demonstration effects, focusing on life and health, and covering various educational needs for the elderly. This will contribute to the national strategy of serving the ageing population and the Healthy China strategy.

Jing Degang pointed out that the strategic cooperation between Sinopharm and SUC is an important initiative and carrier for implementing the guiding principles of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and actively responding to the national strategy of ageing population. The construction of SUC should earnestly implement the speech spirit of Minister Huai Jinpeng during the founding ceremony of the university, and solidly promote the various educational tasks stipulated in the strategic agreement between Sinopharm and SUC. These tasks include: aggregating strengths, giving full play to respective advantages; building a brand, creating brands for elderly education and healthcare; and delivering practical results, managing cooperation projects with a pragmatic attitude. He hopes that through the efforts of both parties, a new model, new highlights, and new formats can be jointly created.

Zhou Song expressed the hope that both sides can complement each other's strengths and jointly build a characteristic school-enterprise cooperative teaching and practice base, comprehensively meeting the elderly's pension needs, and promoting the high-quality development of China's health and wellness industry.

Liu Chen, the deputy secretary of OUC's Party Committee, Fan Xianrui, the vice president of OUC, and relevant department and unit leaders from both sides attended the negotiation meeting and witnessed the signing of the agreement.
