On 2 Nov. 2022, the Open University of China (OUC) invited Lin Yingxing, project leader of the China-aided Papua New Guinea “Juncao” project, and expert with the National Engineering Research Centre of Juncao Technology of Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University, to share his experience online.

CPC member and OUC vice president Fan Xianrui, Fujian RTVU vice president Li Zhengguang, and personnel from the OUC International Department and OUC Faculty of Agroforestry and Medicine, attended.

At the meeting, an interview with Professor Lin Zhanxi, a delegate to the 20th CPC National Congress, chief scientist of the National Engineering Research Centre of Juncao Technology, and the inventor of Juncao technology was played. Fan Xianrui pointed out that the decades of foreign-aid work of the National Engineering Research Centre could help implement the significant “building of a human community with a shared future" proposed by the 20th CPC National Congress. The construction of the OUC’s overseas learning centre should draw on the experience of the Juncao project, adapt to local conditions, adopt a “one country, one policy” approach, enable online and offline access, and guarantee results.

Lin Yingxing talked about the development of Juncao technology and the National Engineering Research Centre; as a unique Chinese technology, it has been widely promoted in PNG and Africa, promoting development and well-being. He also summarised his experience in foreign-aid work.

Li Zhengguang, vice president of Fujian RTVU, said that he was moved and inspired by Prof. Lin Yingxing, and that the collaborative international projects of the OUC should take the Juncao project as a model of responding to the national situation and international needs, with concrete measures to help build a human community with a shared future.
