To enhance the digital literacy of faculty at the Open University of China (OUC), help them understand the latest technology and industry trends, and enhance the construction of learning resources and quality of courses, the Learner Resources Department, Academic Affairs Department, Department of Quality Monitoring and Control, Credit Bank, Faculty of Science and Engineering, Faculty of Education, and Experimental School of the OUC recently organised a visit to the China Beijing International Fair For Trade in Services (CIFTIS).

As an important platform helping China to continue opening up, deepen cooperation, and lead innovation, CIFTIS this year set up a number of themed exhibitions covering culture and tourism, education, financial services, telecommunications, and IT. The move toward digital technology was a major focus.

Participants focused on understanding the development of technologies such as artificial intelligence, virtual simulation (VR/AR), the metaverse, digital humans, blockchain, and big data, covering their applications in education, finance, cultural tourism, sports, and other fields. They were able to communicate with exhibitors and experience some of their products, including VR resources for ideological and political courses, while discussing the integration of digital technology into teaching and business operations at the OUC.
