To welcome the convocation of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Youth League of China, study and implement “Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese characteristics for a New Era”, and publicise the historic achievements and transitions since the 18th National Congress, the Open University of China (OUC) held an activity named “Telling Stories of Rural Revitalisation and Forming Progressive Youth” in its educational system on 28 April 2022. Jing Degang, secretary of the Party Committee and president of the OUC, delivered a speech.

The OUC headquarters and its branches in Henan, Hainan, Sichuan, Guizhou, Gansu and Xinjiang together created a documentary, “Shouldering the National Mission with the Strength of Youth”, related to their particular characteristics and rural-revitalisation practices. Representative young people in the OUC system spoke on topics related to rural revitalisation and shared their learning experiences, as well as their inspiration to help build a better OUC for the “new era”.

Jing Degang said that the activity had far-reaching significance in demonstrating the dedication, courage and responsibility of young people at the OUC, and called on them to work hard and integrate learning into their lives, as well as to bring their personal ideals into the development of open education and the construction of a world-class open university, with results to be visible by the time the 20th National Congress is convened.
