The "2025 National March 8th Red-Banner Holder" list has been announced, and multiple faculty members and students from the Open University of China (OUC) are among the honourees. These women have dedicated themselves to their work with unwavering commitment, shouldering responsibilities with quiet strength and reflecting their original aspirations through their prime years. They are trailblazers in their respective fields, and boundary-breakers in life. Starting today, let's get to know these exceptional OUC women, listen to their inspiring stories, and witness the radiance they bring.

PENG Shuiping is a graduate from the 2008 Autumn Education Management programme at Hunan Branch of the Open University of China. She currently serves as a deputy to the 14th Hunan Provincial People's Congress and as Director of the Xiangtan Chunjing Rice Planting Professional Cooperative. In 2026, she was honoured with the title of "2025 National March 8th Red-Banner Holder." Her previous accolades include "National Role Model of Women’s Meritorious Service," "National Labour Model," "National Major Grain Grower," "One of the National Top 100 Outstanding New Professional Farmers," and "Top Ten Farmers of Hunan Province."

In 2010, PENG left her teaching career and return to her hometown to join a rice cooperative. She pioneered the promotion of integrated "land, air, and sea" plant protection equipment operations and implemented smart farming techniques, significantly enhancing agricultural production efficiency and injecting new energy into traditional agriculture. By adopting a "cooperative + enterprise + farmers" model, she has helped drive an annual total economic income of 50 million yuan for 4,000 cooperative members and assisted 804 impoverished households out of poverty.

Deeply aware of the challenges faced by women entrepreneurs in rural areas, PENG took the lead in establishing the Xiangtan Agricultural Products Women Brokers Association, uniting over 300 rural women entrepreneurs to develop together.

To address the "three difficulties" commonly encountered by rural women entrepreneurs—financing challenges, sales obstacles, and technical barriers—PENG has taken targeted and precise measures, such as promoting easier access to financing and loans to break funding bottlenecks for entrepreneurial sisters. She has personally taught e-commerce knowledge, actively sought freight discounts, and expanded sales channels for agricultural products. Furthermore, she conducted regular technical training to enhance the entrepreneurial capabilities of women, cumulatively helping over 2,000 households achieve stable income growth.

With wisdom and dedication, PENG has carved out an inspiring chapter for women in the new era, turning the dreams of "new farmers" into bountiful harvests across the rice fields.
